In a statement to the press, the LA police said they believe the woman behind the wheel of the BMW might have been driving under the influence of alcohol. She was later booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

Legal Rights of Uber Passengers

Recent estimates suggest about 50 million people have an Uber account on their phone.  As of today, Uber passengers are entitled to $1 million in liability as well as uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. Anyone who’s a victim of an accident while traveling in an Uber car has the legal right to peruse compensation for any time lost at work, pain & suffering, and medical bills that resulted from the accident. Families of loved ones who are killed in an Uber accident can seek compensation as well.
