In 2014, 5,767 postal employees and USPS mail carriers were attacked by dogs. 74 of the dog attacks were in Los Angeles. San Diego came in 3rd with 47 dog attacks. Long Beach was also on the list with 27 dog attacks on postal workers, and Riverside had 13 dog attacks as well.

Dog attacks can result in broken bones, loss of limbs, pierced skin, scarring, and other injuries.

Occasionally, the mailman or mail-woman injured in the attack is reluctant to bring a claim against the dog owner, or they may feel guilty as they were attacked on the dog owner’s property. The fact is that some dogs can attack while completely unprovoked and leave behind expensive and/or debilitating injuries. It is important to understand that claims are typically brought against the homeowner’s insurance, not the homeowner themselves.

If you have been injured in a dog attack feel free to contact me for free advice. We will likely be able to assist you or point you in the right direction.
