Dangers of E-Bikes and Scooters
At the Law Offices of Steers & Associates, we’ve helped Van Nuys accident victims who have been involved in various types of accidents. Some of the most common have been caused by:- Bike Lanes: E-bikes and scooters are allowed in bike lanes and in fact, are supposed to ride there instead of the sidewalks. If the speed limit is too fast for the scooter, then the rider can ride on the road in the far right side of the right lane, and there are many dangers doing this.
- Sidewalks: California law prohibits scooters and e-bikes on the sidewalks, however many times—scooter riders especially—don’t feel comfortable on the street so they will ride on the sidewalks. This can pose dangers to the rider from trying to dodge pedestrians and objects on the sidewalk.
- Potholes: Riding on the street for an e-bike or a scooter can be disastrous if the rider hits a pothole. A scooter can get up to 15 mph, and hitting a pothole at that speed with the scooter’s small tire will usually flip the rider off the bike and into the street in traffic.
E-Bike and Scooter Injuries
With e-bikes and scooters, any impact will almost always flip the rider off of the vehicle and onto the street. Because of this, any bump from a car or truck can cause serious injuries to the rider. We’ve represented many victims of such accidents, and we’ve seen the types and severity of injuries that are caused by accidents especially when struck by a motor vehicle. With each one, we make it our mission to help the victim get through the tough time that was brought on by someone else’s negligence. We will handle everything that is related compensation so the injured rider can focus on getting better. Some of the injuries we’ve helped our clients recover from are:- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Broken Facial Bones
- Broken Teeth
- Broken Wrists
- Shattered Knee/Elbows
- Broken/Displaced Ribs
- Spinal Cord Injuries
- Nerve Damage
- Eye Injuries
- Deep Lacerations
- Severe Road Rash
