Two vehicles collided head on shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday injuring Five people, two critically. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened on 50th Street near Palmdale Boulevard when a Honda Civic was passing other vehicles illegally by crossing the double yellow line hit a Jeep Cherokee that was heading northbound on 50th Street.

Two adults and three children in the Cherokee were injured and taken to a local hospital. Two of the children were airlifted in critical condition. The driver of the Cherokee was not injured and was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated. Police are still investigating the accident and additional charges are likely.
